Pattern Change Could Take Place in 10-12 Days

High Pressure off the West Coast will continue to dominate our weather for at least the next 10 days. However we are seeing the possibility of a pattern change around the 12th of December. Here is what we are up against:

The ridge of high pressure is strategically located to block any moisture and keep our temperatures well above normal; a double whammy preventing storms to enter our area and the resorts from making snow.

However, not all is lost. In fact, most Tahoe areas are open and skiing is good for the most part.

We are seeing a pattern change that could arrive in the nick of time:

Notice the new location of the ridge of high pressure. That should open a door for storms to make it into our area and if you believe the GFS weather model, a series of storms will slip through that door and bring much needed precip to Tahoe sometime between the 12th - 16th of December. Obviously that is quite a few days in the future and we will need to keep a close on this, but for those who prefer the glass to be half full, there is relief in site.

COVID-19 Positive Test

Your humble author tested positive for COVID-19 nearly 2 weeks ago. Although the battle was tough at times, the disease can be beaten. I am a 60 year old male in the moderate to high risk group. I should make my mountain debut this weekend. I am also a 40-year medical researcher and have learned quite a bit through the nearly 2 dozen studies being conducted by my company and first hand exposure to the disease.

I believe the most important thing for people to keep in mind is that masks offer little if any protection. In fact, the WHO admitted their mask recommendations were put in place because of political pressure. Do not wear a mask and think you are safe, you are not.

Do Masks Work?

Secondly, be sure you add copious amounts of Zinc and Vitamin D3 to your diet. You have to assume that you will come in contact with the disease and this will help your body to deal with it; 300% of the daily recommended amounts is optimal.

As study after study comes out touting the benefits of HCL/Zinc as an effective prophylactic treatment; if you are in the high risk group, have a plan with your doctor to start a regimen as soon as you test positive or begin to show symptoms. The earlier the better. Although numerous documents exist, here is the latest guidance for treating the disease for the high risk group:

COVID-19 Treatment

Unfortunately, much of the information out there cannot be trusted. The political environment is so highly charged that we have lost sight of the true goal, which is preserving life. I highly recommend that you avoid searching for answers on Google, rather try Bing or another search engine. In addition, because the rest of the world does not share our petty differences their information is much more reliable which is a terrible shame.

As our US government continues to attempt to divide us, fight the temptation. Treat your fellow citizens better than you might normally. See if they return the favor. All we have is each other and whichever side of the political spectrum you are on makes no difference. It is time to unite as Americans and take back our country from the corruption that is running rampant. We all share the same goals which are spelled out in our constitution. Stop shaming your fellow citizens based on faulty information provided by a corrupt media.

Send your local politicians a strongly worded message; End all lockdowns while protecting the vulnerable. The lockdowns are destroying our businesses and school closures and destroying our most precious commodity; our children. These decisions made by corrupt government officials, cannot continue and we must stand united in reminding our government that they serve us and not the other way around.

Stay Tuned ...

  1. Stick with weather forecasting and forget your ridiculous and dangerous health recommendations!!! My brother who is a Trump supporter is in an ICU on a ventilator with Covid pneumonia because of the kind of misinformation people like you are disseminating. Your lack of medical expertise and knowledge about public health practices is glaringly evident. Please, please, please retract your disinformation!!!!

    1. You are saying that your brother is in the ICU because I warned people to NOT have a false sense of security that the cloth facemasks warn by 95% of the population are going to keep them safe? Nobody, including myself, said anything about not wearing a facemask. I am simply warning the people that believe by wearing a facemask they are shielded from the virus, that they are wrong and are still at great risk. Do not let your guard down because you are wearing a face mask.

I am sorry about your brother and hope he makes a complete recovery. But we have had mask mandates in place for months and they did not even slow the virus.

  2. Agree with MD Skier - nary are your weather predictions accurate, let alone the garbage you shared in this post. Your sources are clearly spurious and dangerously conspiratorial - citing blogs and editorial isn't evidence. One less subscriber here...maybe I should call myself a 'weather researcher' -- hey, I have experience with the weather, I step outside every day!

  3. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/jul/31/facebook-posts/no-cdc-who-study-does-not-prove-masks-do-not-preve/

As Americans argue over whether face coverings stop the spread of COVID-19, a video shared on Facebook makes a stark claim about masks and viruses generally.

A 2020 study from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, the video declares, "proves face masks do not prevent the spread of a virus."

The video was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

One of the study’s authors, University of Hong Kong public health professor Ben Cowling, told PolitiFact that the claim amounts to an "incorrect interpretation" of the study, "confusing absence of evidence with evidence of absence."

Virologist Angela Rasmussen, a research scientist at Columbia University, said of the study cited in the video: "The bottom line is that this paper doesn’t prove that face masks don’t prevent transmission, but that the available data didn’t show a statistically significant effect.

"The available data is incomplete and more studies need to be done to better understand whether masks are effective at reducing community transmission or not. That is why I continue to wear a mask in public places."

    1. Took me roughly 10 seconds to research and find fatal flaws in the first 'citation' in your bogus link 'Do Masks Work?' attempt at evidence of mask ineffectiveness...

"A May 2020 meta-study on pandemic influenza published by the US CDC found that face masks had no effect, neither as personal protective equipment nor as a source control. (Source)"

      Garbage.

  4. Point being, masks, whether you like them or not, whether you believe in their efficacy or not are providing a false sense of security. The warning is simple, do not think because you are wearing a mask that you are safe. You are not.

  5. ... or put another way and this one is very serious, if you have tested positive for COVID and are within the 14 day quarantine period, do not put on your mask and go out in public thinking you are safe from spreading the disease.

  6. Your last point is well taken. If you are in quarantine for Covid 19 you should not go out in public at all. Otherwise everyone else, wear your mask in public, practice social distancing, wash your hands and do this not just for yourself, but for your fellow citizens. It’s the right thing to do and we should quit groveling about it. It’s not that hard and it has nothing to do with politics or liberty.
